2024 Caravaglio Vignedimare Salina Malvasia - Verticale

Regular price $57.00

In Stock: 10

Vignedimare ("vineyards of the sea") is a project of Antonio Caravaglio in the Aeolian Islands of Sicily, a volcanic archipelago north of Mount Etna and mainland Sicily. Salina, where Antonio has his winery and most of his vineyards, is one of those islands. Farming is certified organic. 'Verticale' is 100% malvasia di Lipari grown in volcanic sand on Stromboli, the northern-most of the Aeolian Islands and still an active volcano. (Stromboli also is the setting for the 1950 Italian Neorealism classic film starring Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman.) The wine aged in used 500-liter barrels for 18 months. It is floral and salty, with texture and an intense minerality. This is volcanic island wine per eccellenza.
