This wine of course is none of that. Unturned Stone Productions is Erin Mitchell and Randy Czech. They work with fruit from organically-farmed vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino and practice non-interventionist winemaking, using “intuition, pragmatism, and a dash of whimsy” in the cellar. Bennett Valley is a tiny gem of an American Viticultural Area southeast of Santa Rosa, with a cooling channel of air from the Pacific Ocean giving wines of balance and finesse. This wine is cool and poised, with herbs and pepper balancing the pretty cherry and strawberry fruit. It’s a modest 12.5% alcohol.
