Mantha Wine Company is Samantha Bauer’s brand new endeavor “exploring terroir and growing wine in North Yuba” in the northern Sierra Foothills. Samantha is a former geologist who got the wine bug here in the East Bay, including a stint working at Bay Grape. Her farming is inspired by Masanobu Fukuoka’s minimalist methods. She is obsessively clean in the winery and otherwise works to intervene as little as possible. 'Liquefaction' is a rosé of sangiovese from Naggiar Vineyard in Nevada County. It is a lovely salmon-and-copper color, with pretty floral and chiseled stone aromatics. The wine is medium-bodied and savory, with a little grip, complexifying earthiness, and wicked dryness. This is a gastronomic rosé for charcuterie, pork chops, or an herby pasta salad.
