Vignedimare ("vineyards of the sea") is a project of Antonio Caravaglio in the Aeolian Islands of Sicily, a volcanic archipelago north of Mount Etna and mainland Sicily.
Salina, where Antonio has his winery and most of his vineyards, is one of those islands. Soils are volcanic sand, and farming is certified organic. Salina Rosso is corinto nero, nerello mascalese, nocera, and other local red varieties. The wine has saturated red fruits and dark, spice, and volcanic minerality. It's both flavorful and sophisticated.
