The Lyrarakis family founded their winery in 1966 and now works with 100 small, independent growers on the island of Crete (in addition to farming their own vineyards). Melissaki is an extremely rare variety that grows in plots scattered around the base of Mount Psiloritis, in central Crete. “Gero-Deti” is the name of the organically-farmed family vineyard. This is an orange wine, with 12 days of skin maceration. Intense herbal aromas surround stone fruit and cider flavors, with texture and a kick of tannin on the pallet. Drink it with white meats or grilled Halloumi cheese.
