Tamuna Bidzinashvili formed her winery Kortavebis Marani in 2014. She farms her 2 hectares of vineyards organically and biodynamically. '35 Varieties Red' is a crazy blend of mostly red but also some white varieties, most of them Georgian, plus a few French, Italian, and Ukrainian for good measure. All of the grapes macerated for two months and then aged for nine months. Fermentation and aging both occur qvevri, the large clay amphora that are traditional in Georgian winemaking. The wine is unfined and unfiltered and has no added SO2 (ØØ). Wild and brambly dark fruits, earth and dried herbs. Wicked acidity and moderate tannins. Just 11.5% alcohol. Drink it with cumin lamb or eggplant dishes.
