Erbaluce is the indigenous white grape variety of northern Piemonte. Caluso is the town north of Torino and just south of the Alps that is the heart of the Erbaluce-producing zone. The grape is high in acidity and produces fresh, minerally, herbal, and slightly floral wines. Cieck's version is from average 50-year-old pergola-trained vines growing at 320 meters in loose, stony soils that are rich in glacial moraine. The wine ferments and then ages in stainless steel tanks for four months.
