Ferdinando Principiano is a natural and traditional Barolo producer whose cantina is in Monforte and vineyards straddle Monforte and Serralunga. Farming is practicing organic, with his vineyards teeming with wildflowers, insects, and other wildlife. All fermentations are indigenous. Ferdinando is one of the very few producers in the Langhe who has been able to keep alcohols in check during global warming (under 14% for his Barolos). The Langhe Nebbiolo is from Barolo crus Montagliato and Le Coste (in Monforte) and Boscareto (in Serralunga), picked a little earlier than for the Baroli. Spontaneous fermentation for 14 days and 6-8 months of élevage, all in stainless steel tanks. 13% alcohol. The wine is fresh, with easygoing tannins.
