Pierre Ménard started bottling wines from his parent’s vineyards in Anjou (Loire Valley, west of Saumur, Bourgeuil, and Chinon) in 2013. He converted to biodynamic farming and quickly has become one of the rising stars for Loire Valley cabernet franc and chenin blanc. Orion Alpha is 100% cabernet franc from two parcels, one young and one very old (65+ years). Maceration after destemming for about three weeks, spontaneous fermentation in barrels. No fining or filtration. This is a complete cabernet franc: floral and herbal; beautiful and powerful, graceful and structured. Filet of beef, mushroom dishes, gruyère and other aged Alpine cheeses.
