Seth Morgen Long started his winery in 2016, and in six short years he already has become one of the West Coast’s pre-eminent chardonnay producers. (He is the only Willamette Valley producer who focuses only on chardonnay.) This wine is a blend of three vineyards planted between 1984 and 2016 (Yamhill, X Omni, and Durant). The three vineyards were vinified and aged separately for a year and a half, in a mix of stainless steel and puncheons. The wine smells of citrus, orchard fruits, and stones, with tangy citrus and mineral flavors on the palate. It’s “delicate and electric”, as the producer says. 13% alcohol. Try it with moderately aged cheeses such as Comté or - why not?! - Tillamook. For main courses, fish à la Meunière, fried chicken, or morel mushroom bisque.
