Le Pergole Torte is the top wine from Martino Manetti's Montevertine estate in Radda in Chianti Classico and inarguably one of the greatest wines of Tuscany (Brunello di Montalcino included). It is produced primarily from the 2-hectare Pergole Torte vineyard with a north-northeast exposure and planted in 1968 exclusively to Sangiovese vines , plus some additional fruit from the Montevertine and Sodaccio vineyards, also in Radda. Farming is practicing organic. The wine fermented naturally in 150 hectoliter concrete vats with 3 weeks of maceration. It then aged for 12-18 months in a mix of large Slavonian and French oak botti followed by 6-12 months in French oak (Allier) barriques and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
