Zoltán and Zoltán Jr.'s Kadarka has been part of our growing Kardaka Klub in recent months, so here's their Kékfrankos (= Blaufränkisch, although Hungarians will remind you that Hungary has 70% of the world's Blaufränkisch, oops: Kékfrankos vineyards! Organic farming, spontaneous fermentation, low SO2 additions. Fermentation was in large (5000-8000 liter) wooden and stainless steel open vats (25% whole bunches), 20-25 days of maceration, twice daily foot trodden and/or pumped over, then aged 8 months (full malo) in used Hungarian oak. Plummy and darker berry fruit. A delicious table wine: fruity but high-toned, with a zippy finish. 12% alcohol.
