A ferrado is a traditional unit of measurement in Rías Baixas for the number of grapes it takes to fill one 500L barrel. As it goes, this vineyard is precisely dous (or two) ferrados; hence there are only two 500L barrels of this wine produced. From a unique vineyard in the Salnés subzone called Tomada do Sapo, the vines average 30 years of age. Albariño is grown on sandy granite soil with a clay-calcareous base, this site sits at a higher-elevation (250m) above the winery, in a slightly colder climate with more fog. The traditional neutral barrels are used for this cuvée to facilitate gentle air-exchange and allow the elegance and depth of the site to express itself fully. The vines are pergola-trained, using a Cazanave-Marcón pruning style, all grapes are hand-selected and picked.
