Artana is the name of the town and winery, on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in the Kakheti region of the Republic of Georgia. Taso Akhvlediani is the producer. Tavkveri is the grape variety. Organic farming. Fermented and aged for one year in qvevri (large clay amphora). This wine is labeled "Dry Rose", but don't be fooled: Despite only four days of maceration, it drinks like a light-to-medium-bodied red. Dark, wild-berry fruit, some spice, good acidity and moderate tannin. Clean natty and fresh - lighter than most longer-macerated Georgian reds. øø (nothing added, including SO2, and nothing taken away) and only 10% alcohol.
