From 25+ year-old vines on Sonoma Mountain, the 2023 vintage was shaped by patience. A remarkably cool season led to our latest harvest ever on October 24. Sonoma Mountain’s cool, east-facing slopes naturally extend the ripening window, offering something rare in Cabernet: full maturity without high alcohols or sacrificing acidity. While many chase power, we seek refinement, elegance, purity, and pleasure.
In the cellar, we embrace heritage winemaking techniques, in the old style of Cabernet. Native fermentation in small oak open-top tanks allows for a slow, expressive fermentations, preserving nuance and energy. After fermentation, the wine rests for 18 months in older Bordeaux barrels, gaining depth and the classic frame of Cabernet without overt oak influence or sweetness. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered, pure, honest, and deeply connected to its place.
