Jurançon is a wine appellation in the foothills of the Pyrenees in Southwest France, just 50 kilometers north of the border with Spain. It’s known for sweet and dry white wines from the grape varieties gros manseng, petit manseng, and courbu that can range from lean and electric to weighty and textural. Domaine Bellegarde’s certified organic 'Énergique' is gros and petit manseng vinified dry in the leaner style: it’s snappy, saline, and mineral, with a suggestion of tart peaches and grapefruit. This is the perfect calling card for Jurançon Sec. It makes a lively and distinctive aperitif, or drink it with seafood (especially crustaceans) or tarte aux poireaux (leek tart).
