Maurizio Anfosso and Roberta Repaci farm 3 hectares in the Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC, in far western Liguria, just over the border from Nice in France. Rossesse apparently is the same grape as Tibouren in France. Here it makes light, fresh, peppery reds with great acidity and low tannin. The Beragna vineyard was planted in 1872 on very steep terraces facing southeast on schists and marls, at an altitude of about 400 meters. The vines are ungrafted and bush-trained. Farming is uncertified organic. Chill the wine for 20-30 minutes and drink it with dishes that feature tomatoes or vegetables, spicy dishes, or even fish.
