Luigi Ferrando is the reference-point producer in the Canavese, located in the northwest corner of Piemonte, right next to the Valle d'Aosta. Soils are glacial granitic moraine. Erbaluce is a characterful white grape that's indigenous and still pretty much limited to this corner of Piemonte. Fermentation and aging is for 4-6 months in stainless steel. The wine smells of wild fennel and granite and his excellent minerality and bright acidity. It's a refreshing aperitivo and also good with seafood soups and pasta dishes.
