Muncagota (spelled “Moccagatta” on older labels) is a 4.5 hectare vineyard at 250-300 meters of elevation that faces southeast. The soils are highly calcareous, with little sand, which gives the wine firm and elegant tannins. Three families - Bellora, Lignana, and Viglino - own and farm the portions of the vineyard that go into this wine. Fermentation is in stainless steel, with 32 days of maceration with the skins, followed by aging for 36 months in large oak barrels.
