VK, or Voštinić - Klasnić, combines the surname of current proprietor Tomislav Voštinić with his great-grandfather’s name, Klasnić. The vineyards, winery, and an art gallery and cultural center sit in the Moslavina region of Northern Croatia, near Zagreb but far away from the hubbub of the city. Klasnić was the first to plant škrlet in the area, back in 1936, and Tomislav has continued his great-grandfather’s championing of the variety. 'Unicat' is 100% organically-farmed škrlet from warmer, south-facing vineyards - so a fuller expression of the grape. This is a distinctive, complex, middle-weight white with nice aromatics, peachy fruit, great acidity, and low alcohol (12%). It’s a refreshing and distinctive aperitivo, as well as a versatile partner to seafood and spicy dishes.
