Janire Moraza is a sixth-generation producer in Rioja Alta, just south of the Toloño Mountains in the Sierra de Cantabria. She and her husband work 23 hectares of vineyards with organic and biodynamic certifications. While Rioja producers have historically aged their wines for a long time in oak barrels, Moraza uncommonly ferments and ages all of her wines in concrete vats. 'San Vicente de la Sonsierra' is the name of her village, and this is her village wine - 100% tempranillo from many plots ranging from 450 to 650 meters elevation. It pops out of the glass with exuberant berry fruits and a delicate floral note. It’s bright and lively in the mouth, thanks to the concrete aging and only 12.5% alcohol. Drink it with a chill with jamón, paella, or spicy Indian dishes.
