Unti is Mick, Danae, George and Linda Unti’s family winery in Dry Creek Valley. They launched the vineyards in 1990 and the winery in 1997, with a focus on Mediterranean grape varieties - especially from Italy and Southern France. They have been farming organically for over 20 years. 'Segromigno' is Unti’s homage to Italy's Rosso Piceno, a classic blend of montepulciano and sangiovese from the Marche. Unit’s rendition is two-thirds sangiovese and one-third montepulciano, aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, a quarter of which were new. The wine has deep stone fruit flavors with a spicy kick, good acidity, and moderate tannins. The montepulciano adds a balancing savory intensity to Unti's well-known rich, dark fruit profile. It's a wine that George Unti could proudly present to his Italian ancestors. Drink it with roasted or grilled meats or hearty tomato dishes.
